The 2019 Masters was an electric event due to most of the world\’s top players competing at a high level, but somehow Tiger, after not winning a major PGA Tournament since the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines, hung in there as others faltered, to win his 15th major of his stellar career.
Some called this one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, due to his traumatic personal and professional setbacks and the amount of time it took to get his body and mind healthy again. It was also nice to have his kids old enough to appreciate all the hard work he put into the game to get back to the top of the golf world where is he so comfortable.
Phil Mickelson is also Coming!
Phil also competed valiantly, finishing tied for 18th. He also had not won a major for an extended period of time. He last added to that trophy case at the 2013 Open Championship at the Muirfield Golf Links in Scotland. Then he was winless with a few surgeries on his aging body, until last year at the WGC-Mexico Championships where he beat out a hot Justin Thomas in a playoff.
Then he won another PGA Tour event this year in February at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in gorgeous Pebble Beach, California, taking Paul Casey by 3 strokes. After going 5 years without a win, he also seems to have some resurgence in his career, playing better and better with age. Is this just coincidence, or are these mature hall of famers getting some help?
Why are Phil and Tiger Chewing Gum?
Phil stated that he was chewing gum for the stimulation of his frontal cortex. Tiger said he chews the gum so it helps his appetite because he eats too much. Those might be feasible reasons, but these are rare instances to chew gum during a PGA Tour event, let alone a major tournament. He and Phil were never seen chewing gum before, and now they claim it helps with this voracious desire for food and lack of brain stimulation during golf. Yes, there are such products as CBD infused gum, and only time will tell what is the real story.
What is CBD?
CBD is a natural oil that is extracted from the hemp plant, which is the cousin of the cannabis plant, but has negligible to no THC. THC is the psychoactive component in cannabis that makes users get high. CBD is known for its health value only in many users who need help with anxiety, stress, physical pain and more.
CBD has exploded onto the scene of all venues after it was deemed federally legal in all 50 states last year. The actual CBD oil has existed and been used for over a thousand years. However, it has never been commercialized and extracted as it is being done right now. Millions have benefited from the effects that CBD can have on the human body. The side effects have proven to be minimal for the huge majority of the users. For those who did experience them, they had minor cases of dry mouth, nausea, drowsiness and others.
CBD on the PGA Tour
The PGA Tour and the World Doping Agency had taken CBD off the restricted list, and a well placed anonymous source on the PGA Tour has stated that the players have gone H.A.M. (urban slang for \”going crazy\” or \”obsessing\”) for CBD. Phil was seen taking drops while looking around as if he were a kid taking a hit of something illegal. There are many other products like essential oils that come in tincture bottles, but CBD would be the leading product these players would take in such manner that would actually help their game.
Does CBD Help Golfers?
CBD would be an ideal supplement in the golf game, which requires calmness and control over raw power and emotions. Some say they have never seen Tiger so calm in such an important victory. Maybe he has just gotten older and more mature. Or maybe it is something else. Hopefully more details will be revealed as CBD becomes more mainstream. Even drugstore juggernauts Walgreens and CVS have claimed they will stock CBD in some of their shelves.
