Less than one month after cannabis became legal in New Jersey, the state is contemplating changes proposed by various interest groups. This is due to the Garden State\’s rapidly growing cannabis market.
As was talked about on here, police officers, along with parents and elected officials, do not agree with part of the law that says the parents and guardians of minors are not notified of the first offense. It limits the police officers\’ ability to disclose this information, and also leaves parents uninformed of the incident.
Another change is that employers would have more authority to target employees believed to be consuming cannabis on the job, or who are otherwise intoxicated. There are discussions about including a process where certain critical occupations, such as that of police officers, would not be allowed to consume legal cannabis. Another revision to the bill is that there would be limited permission for home growers of cannabis. This point has been discussed by proponents of legal cannabis for a while.
