Delta-8 THC is generally thought of as being a naturally occurring chemical. It is an extract of the hemp plant, and a separate substance from Delta-9 THC, that is not made from a synthetic base. The pressure of DEA intervention keeps sellers of Delta-8 alert, and many sellers don\’t ship to states where Delta-8 THC is banned. This is somewhat confounding, given that this ban includes several states with legal cannabis laws, such as Colorado, which have legalized cannabis for recreational use.
Even though there are legal obstacles, proponents of Delta-8 THC are optimistic about its future. This is true even if cannabis is eventually legalized at the federal level, and Delta-8 would become a competitive product to cannabis. An owner of a dispensary in Maine, a state where recreational cannabis is legal, says that there have been more customers who have asked about Delta-8, and also more who use cannabis, but who want to feel clearer headed.
More politicians have been receptive to the idea of legalizing cannabis than they had previously been. Even one decade ago, it was a different picture than it is now. There are currently 11 states that strictly prohibit the sale of Delta-8 THC. These are: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Rhode Island and Utah. Consumers who live in any of these states most likely will not be able to have products that contain Delta-8 shipped to them legally.
For consumers who reside in states where Delta-8 THC is legal, there are a few different methods to use it. There are vaping cartridges, where the user can vary the dosage. A vaping pen will be needed, so this method can be more expensive. Another method is tinctures. This can be a good method for those who don\’t want to use the vaping method, and a rapid onset of positive effects can be achieved. Sublingual tinctures, which are administered under the tongue, are absorbed more quickly than edible Delta-8 products, and the beneficial effects appear within one hour. One or two drops is usually all that is needed for positive effects for the whole body. Most Delta-8 tinctures contain a spectrum of cannabinoids that also have a high concentration of Delta-8 THC. These oils also include natural hemp oil in addition to purified Delta-8. Yet another method to take Delta-8 THC is gummy edibles. These tend to be more potent and last longer than either tinctures or vaping oils. A benefit to this form is that the the dosage is more consistent and controlled. A downside could be that the onset of the benefits vary more, and if too much is taken, the best thing to do is to wait out the sedating effects. This involves another reason why Delta-8 THC is popular. The higher dosages are milder and less intense than traditional cannabis edibles.
