Both CBD and THC come from the cannabis plant, but have many differences. They are both also increasing in popularity, as their respective lists of benefits are growing. CBD has a long list of products that have beneficial effects to alleviate many conditions. These range from aches and pain, especially joint pain, such as arthritis, tummy issues, anxiety and depression, sleeplessness and skin inflammation.
THC, of which the chemical name is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol,is also found in the cannabis plant. It is the primary mind altering substance that is becoming more attainable, as many states have legalized cannabis for both recreational and medicinal use.
Some similarities exist between THC and CBD. They are the two main compounds derived from the cannabis plant, and are classified as cannabinoids. They stem from the precursor of cannabigerol, or CBG. Both CBD and hemp are cannabis derived. Cannabis contains a lot more THC than hemp, while hemp contains more CBD. Both of these plants also consist of more than 500 other chemicals, which includes more than 100 cannabinoids. This is according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
