The CBD and hemp industry will watch closely this week to see if federal regulations will require warning labels for pregnant or nursing women on CBD products. In addition, there is a question of mandating dosage levels which are gender specific. The U.S. FDA\’s Office of Women\’s Health will lead discussions on CBD and other cannabinoids, with regard to gender differences and responses to CBD. It will be a scientific and multidisciplinary conference for both medical professionals and members of the public.

The conference will focus on the potential psychosocial and biological differences related to the use of, and response to, CBD and other cannabinoids. It will address questions on whether cannabinoids affect women differently than men, and the hemp and CBD business implications and opportunities that affect the CBD industry.

In particular, some businesses worry that the FDA is holding hemp products and its derivatives to a higher standard than that for other supplements. They seek to show the cumulative effects of CBD, but some business people think that the FDA should focus more on guidelines for the many CBD and cannabinoid supplement businesses.

Women in the industry, as well as women physicians, hope that the public is made aware of CBD\’s effects and benefits, and that as with any consumed product, there are adjustments made for gender specific dosing, while taking into account that certain conditions which CBD helps, such as anxiety, depression and sleeplessness, tend to be more prevalent in women.
