The cannabis industry is unique in a business sense. It is mostly prevented from operating across state lines. This is due to its being illegal at the federal level, and from also not being legalized in some states. These laws still classify cannabis as an illegal substance.
Growth can occur in areas in which other industries might not have been created.
Fourteen states and Washington D. allow recreational cannabis sales. Several other states are considering legalizing of recreational cannabis. These include Connecticut, Rhode Island and New York. It is an industry in which there is not a lot of representation of being owned by people of color. But as lawmakers work to allow new legal markets to go online in some states, more Americans can find good jobs in the cannabis industry. This trend will continue during the 2021 legislative sessions and continue to the 2022 election time.
