There are dilemmas to be faced and sorted out in the court system regarding challenges presented by cannabis legalization in New Jersey. Two of those currently are potential situations surrounding cannabis use in the workplace and in motor vehicle charges. The first one presents ambiguity due to both drug testing in the workplace, and what might or might be done if an employee appears intoxicated from cannabis use.
It was written about here that a person cannot be refused to be hired for a job due to a positive test for cannabis substances. Likewise, police face challenges with motor vehicle incidents, because cannabis stays in the bloodstream for days, and potentially weeks, so there is no effective test for roadside screening use. There is also the question of whether or not the state\’s attorney general will dismiss all pending cases resulting from cannabis charges. Yet another unanswered question is how police would address cannabis that is bought and sold illegally, since the users caught with illegal cannabis are most likely financially unable to afford buying cannabis legally. Another variable is whether or not current inmates who are serving jail time for cannabis charges would be released.
Advocates for cannabis are closely keeping an eye on the political maneuvers in Washington regarding canbabis use, since the possession of cannabis remains illegal at the federal level. The advocates are somewhat optimistic about the steps there to ratify insurance and banking restrictions in the current cannabis market. Overall, the ongoing work about many aspects of cannabis has just commenced.
