There is a main difference between CBD and hemp. CBD oil that is extracted from the cannabis plant is medical cannabis, while hemp is chemically different. CBD oil that is extracted from the Cannabis plant can contain various amounts of THC. Because of this characteristic, the CBD oil from the cannabis plant is considered a Schedule 1 drug which is still not legal in many states, or in other countries in the world.
In contrast, industrial hemp is naturally high in CBD and it contains only trace amounts of THC. Hemp oil produced from it is safe and non intoxicating. This type of CBD oil is a lot different from the oil that is bred for medicinal use. It is produced by extracting fatty acids from the cannabis plant, and is used for its soothing properties.
Besides the difference in the amount of THC, CBD oils also have different amounts of other cannabinoids. These chemicals make up a small proportion of the total makeup and their effects are not as notable as those produced by their CBD and THC concentrations.
