While some people celebrated the unofficial holiday, or significant day for all cannabis things on 4/20, other people are happy with the outcome of the hard fought and hard won political battle to obtain cannabis, medicinally speaking. An example is the state of Utah, where the medical cannabis program there is growing, but advocates also worry that many patients are still being left behind.

On March 2, 2020, which was the day last year, when the medical cannabis program started, there were 17 medical cannabis patients in the state who could legally access the cannabis. This popularity increased greatly, according to a medical cannabis pharmacy in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Currently, there are almost 26,000 patients, and the number is growing. The company expects to have at least 50,000 medical cannabis customers to be part of the medical cannabis program by the end of the year.

There was a Utah Patients Coalition in a booth on 4/20 to collect donations to help qualifying cannabis patients buy cannabis. This group sponsored Proposition 2 which legalized medical cannabis. It then launched a new initiative to assist terminally ill and indigent patients to be able to afford their medicinal cannabis.
