While CBD is non intoxicating, it is inaccurate to describe it as non psychoactive. An example is how it affects a person who has clinical depression. If he or she takes a small dose of a sublingual spray or tincture that is rich in CBD, and then has a really good day for the first time in a while, it is obvious that the CBD contains a powerful, mood affecting compound. Even though CBD isn\’t generally as psychoactive as THC, it doesn\’t mean it can\’t have a positive effect on mood. It can help a person\’s psyche.

It also remains true that the slight euphoria that the CBD induces is not a bad thing. When either a sick or healthy person takes CBD, there is a negative connotation attached to the euphoria, a Greek word, meaning having health, or good health. This effect is part of the plant\’s therapeutic qualities, rather than an unwanted side effect. It is a medicine first, as noted by a doctor. It also happens that it has the ability to produce psychoactive effects, like other medicines can also do.

Another point about CBD that can pose some confusion is the general thought that it is sedating. In moderate doses, CBD has the mild effect of being more energizing and of increasing alertness, while with high doses, as has been mentioned, a biphasic effect occurs. This is when very high doses produce the opposite characteristic of promoting sleepiness. If a cannabis flower rich in CBD produces a sedating effect, it is due to a terpene profile rich in myrcene. Myrcene is a terpene that has sedative and painkilling properties. Even though the CBD doesn\’t directly cause the sedation, it does reduce anxiety, which may produce better sleep.
