The only difference between industrial hemp and medical cannabis is that industrial hemp is made solely from cannabis sativa. The cannabis of this variety was specifically bred to contain the lowest possible concentration of THC.

Hemp that is produced from this cannabis plant has strong and tall, fibrous stalks. It has very few flowering buds. In contrast, cannabis strains are short and bushy in appearance and texture, and contain high levels of THC. They are so vastly different, that it is hard to tell that they belong to the same genus.

Cannabis is bred for the purpose of containing the highest amount of THC. Industrial hemp has trace amounts of THC, and has high ansd naturally occurring amounts of CBD. It actually has the highest ratio of CBD to THC of all of the cannabis strains, even more than Ruderalis. This means that industrial hemp has a chemical profile that is not capable of producing intoxicating effects when taking it.
