Cannabis markets are very different from each other, with regard to business opportunities for cannabis growers. The recent November 3rd election opened up an opportunity for cannabis growers in five states. The sales could generate more than 2.5 billion dollars from both medical and recreational cannabis sales per year, between now and 2024.

Some of these emerging markets are more promising than others, depending on the location and size of the state, and also on the flexibility of their regulations. For example, both New Jersey and Arizona are the frontrunners because their upcoming recreational cannabis markets are building on medical cannabis programs which are already in place, and also upon large state populations. In contrast, the states of South Dakota and Montana, appear to have limitations, even though they both legalized adult cannabis use. Mississippi also joined South Dakota, in approving medical cannabis use, but it is yet undetermined how its cities and counties will respond to the new cannabis program.

New Jersey\’s recreational cannabis market is helped by its optimal outdoor growing climate, owing to our nickname of the Garden State. In contrast, the other four states are going to rely heavily on both greenhouse and indoor growing facilities, because of their extreme temperature fluctuations. Both Mississippi and South Dakota are more conservative in nature, and they might tend to be less likely to allow cannabis that is grown outdoors because it can\’t be protected. After considering all of these factors, the overall trend towards legalizing cannabis nationwide will benefit the entire industry.
